Installation
Geeky Bot is free on WordPress.org. You install it like any other plugin, and it opens its Setup screen the first time you activate it.
Install and activate Geeky Bot
Section titled “Install and activate Geeky Bot”- Make sure WooCommerce is installed and active.
- In your WordPress admin, open Plugins → Add New Plugin.
- Search for “Geeky Bot”.
- Select Install Now on “Geeky Bot – AI Chatbot & Sales Assistant for WooCommerce”.
- Select Activate.
WordPress takes you to Geeky Bot → Setup with a welcome message. Continue with the Setup screen.
What activation does
Section titled “What activation does”On a new install, Geeky Bot:
- Creates its database tables and saves its default settings.
- Schedules the first product search index build, about 30 seconds later, if WooCommerce is active.
- Prepares the Store Knowledge index for any policy pages you select later.
Default settings use Local grounded mode, so nothing is sent to an AI service until you choose one. The storefront widget is on by default.
The Settings link on the Plugins screen opens Geeky Bot → AI & Privacy.
Deactivating
Section titled “Deactivating”Deactivating Geeky Bot keeps your settings, conversations and index. It stops Geeky Bot’s background jobs, which resume when you activate it again.
Multisite
Section titled “Multisite”Geeky Bot runs on a WordPress multisite network. You can activate it on one site or across the network.
- Each site keeps its own product index, settings, conversations and AI budget.
- A site creates its own tables the first time it loads, including sites added to the network later.
- After a network-wide activation, each site’s administrator is sent to Setup the first time they open their site’s admin.
- Build the product index once per site, from that site’s Geeky Bot → Setup or Geeky Bot → Product Search.
Translations
Section titled “Translations”Geeky Bot doesn’t ship its translations inside the plugin. On a site that isn’t in English, or where a user has chosen another language, it downloads the translation from geekybot.com by itself:
- when Geeky Bot is installed or updated,
- when the site language changes,
- and once a day, to pick up improved translations.
Translations go into wp-content/languages/plugins/, where plugin updates don’t delete them. Commerce Pro uses the same translation. Nothing about your site is sent: the request reads a public list and downloads a file that is checked against its published checksum.
To see or manage translations, open Geeky Bot → Languages. There you can:
- See which languages are installed, with Install now or Update now beside each one.
- Select Check for updates.
- Download any translation’s
.poand.mofiles. - Select Use it for me to switch only your own admin language.
To turn off automatic downloads, add this line to wp-config.php:
define('GEEKYBOT_TRANSLATIONS_AUTO', false); You can then install languages from Geeky Bot → Languages, or download the files there and upload them to wp-content/languages/plugins/. On a site with DISALLOW_FILE_MODS, Geeky Bot can’t install files, so upload them yourself.
Updating from an earlier version
Section titled “Updating from an earlier version”Update Geeky Bot from the Plugins screen like any WordPress.org plugin. If you used Commerce Pro before 2.1.2, open Geeky Bot → License after updating and enter your licence key again.
